The Finnish Embassy serves Finnish citizens and foreigners with matters involving authorities, such as passports, notary services and certain specific legal transactions, family law, citizenship and military service. The Embassy organises also advance voting abroad.
The network of Finnish diplomatic and consular missions abroad is the most important expert organisation in the field of export of Finnish cultural goods and services around the world.
In order to have the authenticity of a signature certified or a document authenticated, a foreign authority, company or private person may ask the Finnish authorities for an official certification for documents executed in Finland.
As to States other than those Parties to the Hague Apostille Convention, the legalisation procedure of documents has three stages:
The Embassy can legalize certain certificates issued by the authorities of the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Qatar (birth, marriage and death certificates) for Finnish authorities and submit them to the Population Register Centre in Finland. The documents must first be translated into English and legalized at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State in question.
Please note that legalization of documents will take from 3 to 5 working days. If you are traveling to the Embassy from afar, we recommend making an appointment. The Embassy can legalize documents while waiting only by appointment or in emergency situations.
